Biography

CLARK PERRY is an award-winning writer of plays, screenplays, fiction, journalism, and one or two other things.

He's currently developing film projects under the auspices of Terra Firma Films' Emerging Writers Program at Universal Studios. He's also penned scripts for American Top 40 with Ryan Seacrest, and was profiled on KCRW's syndicated showbiz radio program "The Business."

His plays have been seen at Carnegie Mellon University, New York Stage & Film, American Globe Theatre, Epiphany Theatre Company, and the Contemporary American Theater Festival.

Clark's screenplays have won awards from the ScreamFest LA Film Festival and a fellowship from the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation Screenwriting Program.

He's a former film and theater critic for venues such as the St. Petersburg Times, Tampa Tribune, and alt-weekly Creative Loafing. He did a two-year stint as manager for a Fortune 500 company, and in the aftermath found it difficult to refer to himself in first-person. Because, you see, the customer is always first.

Despite his penchant for making shit up, Clark was awarded the Gold "Charlie" Award for Best Investigative Reporting from the peer-reviewed Florida Magazine Association. No one was more shocked than he.

Clark's fiction has appeared in magazines and anthologies with high-falutin' names like Science Fiction Age, Peter Straub's Ghosts, and Robert Bloch's Psychos. He's a graduate of the Clarion Workshop in Science Fiction and Fantasy, where he studied with Harlan Ellison and Damon Knight.

Clark has taught writing at Carnegie Mellon University, West Virginia University, and Fairmont State University. He's a hard-ass in the classroom. Kids dig him anyway.

It came from Alabama. It now lives in LA.
